It's time to retire the new trend of outrageous baby gender reveal parties

Baby gender reveal parties are getting way, way out of control.

One gender reveal party, in particular, went nuclear and accidentally started a wildfire that burned nearly 47,000 acres of Arizona land and caused more than $8 million in damage.

A new video has been released by the US Forest Service which shows the events that led to such destruction. Filmed on April 23, 2017, the clip shows a handmade target with the words "Boy" and "Girl" written on it, placed in the middle of the desert near Green Valley, Arizona, south of Tucson.

Those watching can then hear a gunshot, followed by the target explosion, which reveals a blue cloud to signal the unborn child is a boy. Just moments later, the surrounding bush catches fire and a voice can be heard shouting: "Start packing up!"

Flames spread to the Coronado National Forest, becoming the Sawmill Fire, which took firefighters from at least 20 agencies to contain for around a week, according to KGUN-TV.

The man at the heart of the drama - and who shot the target - is off-duty US Border Patrol agent Dennis Dickey, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor violation of US Forest Service regulations and was sentenced to five years' probation, CNN reports. He was also ordered to pay $8,188,069 in restitution, starting with an initial payment of $100,000 and monthly payments thereafter.
