Her son and the rest of twitter stepped in to highlight the absurdity of the idea that ’no man is safe’.

A now infamous tweet (which has since been deleted) has put the #HimToo hashtag under the spotlight… A proud mother used it over the weekend when praising her son Pieter for all his achievements and simultaneously launching an attack on ‘radical feminists’, claiming he 'won’t go on solo dates due to the current climate of false sexual accusations by radical feminists with an axe to grind'.
Behold said tweet:
Caption
The #HimToo hashtag was born when male sexual assault survivors began using it to shed light on their experiences. However, it has since been used to steer the conversation away from the bravery of survivors, towards the notion that men are under the attack of false sexual assault allegations, in attempt to invalidate the stories being brought forward via #MeToo.
Here were some of the responses:
This is MY son. He graduated #1 in boot camp. He was awarded the USO award. He was #1 in A school. He is a gentleman who respects women. He won't go on solo dates due to the current climate of false sexual accusations by radical feminists with an axe to grind. I VOTE. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/rONnoe27Yn

This is MY son. He singlehandedly runs a small hotel. He's a homeowner. He knows a boy's best friend is his mother. He goes a little mad sometimes. He won't go on solo dates due to the current climate of false accusations by radical anti-shower-stabbing feminists. I VOTE. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/qSYY7Cy46E

This is MY son. He graduated #1 from the Jedi academy. He is on the light side of the force and always respects women. Because of the current climate he spends all his time in an older man’s apartment at the edge of town. I VOTE. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/rFQDTdFPBB

This is MY son. My special, special boy. He is #1 in my heart and does what his Mother tells him. He's a good boy. He doesn't go on solo dates because of the current climate of drug use and promiscuity among radical teenagers... but he does have an axe to grind. I VOTE. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/OTRkwXnjM4

This is MY son, Ted. He worked for Republicans, went to law school, and is described as charming & charismatic. He drives a sensible Volkswagen. He WILL go on solo dates, if you’re interested- even during the current climate of ridiculous accusations against him. I VOTE. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/lEkjbWn0da

As the memes piled up, a man claiming to be Pieter's brother weighed in and told Twitter that the comments about him being afraid to go on solo dates was 'made up'.
This is my son. He is a gentleman who treats ladies with respect. He’s afraid to date right now because of the current climate. Seriously, because of the actual climate his future kids won’t be able to survive. I vote. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/pxefN68aNZ

My brother is trending on twitter because of my moms ridiculous tweet. I’m a mixture of laughing hard and feeling bad for him. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/YG93x9ikii

This has gotten bigger than I anticipated. I’m telling my brother to make a twitter account.

He’s making one but we are on the phone with the media right now. Crazy.

And how did it all end? Finally, we got to hear from Pieter. And thankfully his comments about the #MeToo era were far more supportive.
That was my Mom. Sometimes the people we love do things that hurt us without realizing it. Let’s turn this around. I respect and #BelieveWomen . I never have and never will support #HimToo . I’m a proud Navy vet, Cat Dad and Ally. Also, Twitter, your meme game is on point. pic.twitter.com/yZFkEjyB6L
