Keaton with Allen - Actress Diane Keaton has voiced her support for director Woody Allen, saying she 'continues to believe him' after multiple allegations of sexual abuse have been made against him by his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow. Keaton wrote on Twitter: 'Woody Allen is my friend and I continue to believe him,' alongside a link to a 1992 interview in which Allen defended himself against the original accusations made by his former partner Mia Farrow.
A nightmare realised - An Indian man has died after being sucked into an MRI machine while visiting a relative at a hospital in Mumbai. Rajesh Maru, 32, was pulled towards the machine by its magnetic force while carrying an oxygen cylinder, the city’s police said in a statement. ‘We have arrested a doctor and another junior staff member under section 304 of the Indian penal code for causing death due to negligence,’ Mumbai police spokesman Deepak Deoraj told AFP.
No entry - Jamaica has banned a Holocaust-denying pastor from Arizona, who has also called for gay people to be stoned death, after outcry from activists in the country. Steven Anderson, from the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, said he was about to board a flight to Kingston when he was informed he would not be allowed into Jamaica.
Horror in India - An eight-month-old baby girl has been raped allegedly by her cousin in Delhi, India. The girl is reportedly in a critical condition at a local hospital. Police told the media that they had arrested the 28-year-old accused. Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal, who visited the infant in hospital on Monday night, described her injuries as ‘horrific’.
Are you on the list? - The US has released a list of prominent Russian business and political figures, implementing a Congressional law designed to punish Russia for election meddling. The US Treasury list includes members of the top political administration at the Kremlin, as well as every Russian oligarch with a net worth of $1 billion or more. Some of those named are already subject to US sanctions, but the administration stressed the report was ‘not a sanctions list.’
Taken too far - Tech billionaire Elon Musk has sold more than $3m worth of flamethrowers. The Tesla CEO appears to have created the $500 devices for his own amusement, and put them up for pre-order on Sunday as a joke that got out of hand. People have already bought at least 7,000 flamethrowers. The device was created after Musk joked in December that he would start selling flamethrowers if his tunnel construction firm – The Boring Company – managed to sell 50,000 branded hats.
Evolution of dinosaurs - Scientists have discovered a new species of dinosaur, the Mansourasaurus shahinae, which was the length of a school bus and about as heavy as an elephant, weighing in at around five tons. What's even more remarkable, however, is what it says about the evolution of dinosaurs. This species was found in Egypt, but for more than 250 years most dinosaur bones have been found in Europe, North America and Asia and not in Africa. Until now.
