The keyboard warriors weren't letting it go unnoticed

By Anna Freeman Once again, Donald Trump ignored the advice of experts.

Nasa released a guide on how to view yesterday’s incredible eclipse, but the US president clearly didn’t get the memo as he was spotted staring up at the sun like a deer caught in headlights.

‘Looking directly at the sun is unsafe except during the brief total phase of a solar eclipse (“totality”), when the moon entirely blocks the sun’s bright face, which will happen only within the narrow path of totality,’ Nasa wrote on a webpage.

‘The only safe way to look directly at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed sun is through special-purpose solar filters, such as "eclipse glasses" or hand-held solar viewers.’

The advice couldn’t be clearer. In fact, young children used solar filters while the leader of the free world gazed on, most probably damaging his eyes in some way. Not known for listening to, well, anyone but himself, Trump watched the rare natural event from the Blue Room Balcony at the White House, next his wife Melania and son, Barron. The White House pool report alleges he pointed to the sky to advise administration staff to watch the eclipse, prompting one of the staffers to shout ‘don’t look!’ back at him. Of course, this didn’t go unnoticed by the people of Twitter, who ruthlessly mocked the president’s inability to follow even the simplest of guidelines:
