Canada has moved a step closer to legalising recreational cannabis use. Canadian senators passed the Cannabis Act by 56 votes to 30 with one abstention after studying the landmark legislation for six months. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has committed to making marijuana legal by this summer, becoming the first G7 nation to legalise recreational use of the drug.

Ikea announced that it will phase out all single-use plastic products from its shops and restaurants by 2020. The Swedish company said it will stop selling single-use plastic products like straws, plates, cups, freezer bags, garbage bags, and plastic-coated paper plates and cups.
