Two men have been detained

Central Melbourne is currently on lockdown after a vehicle drove into a crowd of pedestrians at a busy junction.
Australian police have arrested two men in connection with the incident, deemed ‘a deliberate act’, on Flinders Street, Victoria authorities said.
According to early reports, 14 people have been injured and taken to hospital, with several in critical condition.
Although police have determined the act was deliberate, the motive behind the attack is currently unknown.

The white SUV struck pedestrians just after 16:30 local time. The intersection is one of the busiest in Melbourne and is multi-directional, meaning that when the pedestrian lights go, people cross on the diagonal and swarm the road.
Witnesses say between 40 and 60 people where in the interaction when the SUV went through.
