If you have been unlucky enough to be sent straight to heartbreak hotel after your significant other cheated, then you will relate to this.
Although adultery is unbelievably painful for the person being deceived, it is scarily common. A 2017 study undertaken by Trustify found that in over one third of marriages, one or both partners had cheated.
It also states that 22% of men admitted to cheating; in relation to 14% of women. 36% of men and women admitted to having an affair with a coworker. 17% of men and women admitted to having an affair with a sister-in-law or brother-in-law. Furthermore, people who have cheated before are 350% more likely to cheat again.
So, basically, if you're into monogamy, these are some hard statistics to swallow perhaps. Blame has been placed on technology for an uptick in infidelity and divorce given the availability of sexual partners on apps like Tinder.
Or, maybe monogamy really is a social construct and we should all ditch the long-terms and take up a life of polyamory. Whichever way you cut it, cheating sucks. So my GF didn't work while I did, so she was often staying at my place alone while I was working throughout the week.
