The animated video for 'Feels Like Summer' by Childish Gambino, AKA Donald Glover, is a stroll through a star-studded American neighbourhood in the heat of summer
Childish Gambino is back with another music video that has the whole world watching, analysing and dissecting. Although admittedly not as powerful and hard-hitting as his seminal video, and track, ‘This is America’, it is nonetheless worthy of critical attention.
The ‘Feels like Summer’ video is an animated walk through a neighbourhood in the US. But this is no ordinary neighbourhood: its streets are lined with the biggest names in hip hop and R&B today and of the past.
The video, animated by Justin Richburg, follows Childish Gambino, AKA Donald Glover, roaming the area on a casual summer’s day. What he sees on the way is a perfect blend of the normal and the divine; the common experience interwoven with the cultural significance of its subjects.
