Disney announced the queen of pop will step into the paws of Lion King's central female role

As Disney continues to churn out live action versions of their classic animated movies for lack of any original ideas, the production company is now taking a stab at the seminal masterpiece, The Lion King.
Speculation has swirled about who would play the film’s central characters, but the wait is over. And fans are going crazy for one announcement in particular: Beyoncé will play lioness Nala.
The singer and megastar has appeared in other movies like Dreamgirls and Obsession, and it is hard to think of a better person to bring Simba’s long term friend and love interest alive.
Other castings include Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Alfre Woodard as Sarabi, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon and Keegan-Michael Key as a hyena.
Director Jon Favreau, who also created the live action version of Jungle Book, is tasked with the responsibility of not ruining arguably the best Disney movie ever made. ‘It is a director’s dream to assemble a talented team like this to bring this classic story to life,’ Favreau said.
